Remodeling a grocery store on a small island community might not seem like something Vashon Thriftway needed to do. However, striving for innovation and change, that’s exactly what they did. Phillips Enterprises, Inc. was there from conception to beyond the grand re-opening to turn an already leading grocery store into the hands-down local favorite. Summertime visitors enjoy the new flavors of gelato (Italian-style ice cream) and locals have rejuvenated interest in their local grocery store. Keeping customers coming back requires more than simply replacing the old with something new. It is a balance between rejuvenating a local favorite while keeping in mind that the connection is why the shopper is there in the first place. The result was a renewed interest in an old favorite.
